HEALTH bosses are set to provide even more new parking at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
Planners have backed a modified application for a multi-storey car park on the hospital site which includes the addition of another level of parking.
It brings the height of the development to seven levels, providing 1,122 parking bays.
The ambitious scheme is part of a £16.4m investment which also includes a new hospital entrance.
Planning approval was originally granted last October, but since then the hospital trust has found there is enough money in the budget to provide an additional level.
Blackpool Council’s planning committee agreed to back the scheme but deferred a final decision pending legal agreement.
The new proposal will create an additional 153 spaces compared to the original application.
A report to the committee says: “This additional parking provision would future-proof the multi-storey car park against programmed redevelopment across the wider hospital site and should avoid any requirement for the car park to be further extended in the foreseeable future.”
