AN investigation is underway to find the people responsible for possibly torturing five cats.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) has said it is investigating after the animals were dumped near Easterleigh Animal Sanctuary in St Annes.
The cats, found on Friday, August 24, and Saturday, 25, had all been tortured with some having their eyes gouged out, according to sanctuary staff and a vet from Vets4Pets in St Annes.
Alison Wilford, RSPCA animal welfare officer, said: “Anyone who dumps an animal is breaking the law – to abandon them when they are in such terrible health makes this case even more callous.
“We are looking into this matter and want to hear from anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously in the area at the time when these cats were dumped or who recognises Pickle and Marmalade and knows where they may have come from.”
