Evatt hails 'excellent' Pool fans

IAN Evatt has praised Pool's "excellent" supporters and says it is up to the players to make sure there is no jeering by producing the goods on the pitch.

It seems bizarre that stick from the terraces has become a talking point when the Seasiders are enjoying their most successful season for more than 30 years and currently occupy a lofty sixth position in the Championship.

But booing hit the headlines when Ian Holloway defended Jason Euell, and earlier in the season Ben Burgess, after they got some criticism from a minority of fans.

There was a further incident at the weekend when a local DJ, who had made comments about jeering the team, was confronted by Holloway at Bloomfield Road.

For his part Evatt believes it boils down to one simple thing.

"It is up to us. If we are playing like we can play then there is no reason for any booing," he said.

"Booing is never going to help anybody but on the other hand I understand fans pay their money and they deserve to say anything they want.

"I can only speak as a player and from our point of view we don't respond to that. It can be a negative and hit your confidence.

"But I think the fans have been excellent. They were great on Saturday and hopefully that will continue."
