A Fylde man will be joined by several cast members from Emmerdale on a biking adventure to raise funds for a children’s hospice.Dave Cryer, of St Michaels on Wyre, has enlisted the help of Joe-Warren Plant, of Poulton, who plays Jacob Gallagher in the ITV soap as he cycles from Scarborough to Blackpool Tower in aid of Brian House. As the group of seven stop off at Guy’s Thatched Hamlet in Owd Nells for a fun day on Sunday September 10, several other cast members as well as Charlie Cairoli, the son of the famous clown of the same name in Blackpool Tower, and paralympian Isaac Towers, will join in for the last leg.Dave, 51, said: “I am a member of the Freemasons and we do a lot of fund-raising for various charities.“I am part of the Emblem Lodge in Blackpool which has already donated £1,000 to Brian House, which is linked with Trinity Hospice.“I have visited the children’s hospice and seeing the youngsters receiving end of life care really has an impact on you.“So I got some of my mates together and came up with this challenge. I am good friends with Joe-Warren Plant’s dad, Warren, and Joe does quite a bit of charity work so he is happy to join us, as long as his filming schedule allows it.“I only started cycling again properly earlier this year in Tenerife, so it will be a bit of a challenge.“There is a team of seven of us, plus a support crew, doing the ride from Scarborough to Blackpool, setting off on September 7.“On September 10, we are stopping off at Guy’s Thatched Hamlet for a charity day and inviting people to join us for the last part.“Here, some Emmerdale members and Charlie Cairoli will join us. Semi-professional bike rider Chris Astbury will also take part with a tandem which Isaac Towers will use. This is a nice community event and will be great fun.“I want to say thank you to the Wilkinson family at Guy’s as they have been very generous and supportive.”Anyone with a bike can join in the cycle ride from Guy’s Thatched Hamlet to Blackpool Tower on September 10.Registration is from 10am until noon.Entry is £15 for a family or £5 per person. To support David and the team, which also consists of Chris Montgomery; Simon Nugent; Warren Plant; Harry Robinson and John Slinger, visit http://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/teamgb-guys-coast2coast
