A Blackpool school has been forced to close after a fault developed with its heating system.

Staff at St Kentigern’s Catholic Primary School in Newton Drive told parents by text message about the issue this morning.

A spokesman for the school said: “The boiler has just stopped working.

“When the site supervisor came in this morning the heating was off and red lights flashing on the boiler system.

“Engineers are coming to the school later today and we hope to update parents later today as to whether the school will open tomorrow.”
