A Blackpool school has been named as the first in Lancashire to achieve a specialist award for its commitment to careers guidance.

Montgomery High School has achieved Stage Two of The Inspiring IAG Award, recognising good quality careers education, information, advice and guidance.

Simon Brennand, headteacher at the school on All Hallows Road, Bispham, said: “We aim to draw the best from the talents, expertise and experience of all our students and staff.

“It highlights our commitment to securing high quality academic achievement and to providing the best possible learning opportunities and support.”

The award looked at Montgomery’s design and delivery of careers advice, outcomes for youngsters and involvement of parents and carers.
