Pupils who set fire to a plastic toilet roll dispenser and caused their school to be evacutated were ‘caught and dealt with’.
Youngsters were sent home from Highfield Humanities College on Thursday afternoon after the deliberate fire, which set the sprinklers off, causing ‘significant water damage’, the fire service said.
A spokesman for the high school, the last in Blackpool under local authority control, said: “We do not tolerate any action which disrupts the education of children at our school.
“We have identified those involved who are being dealt with according to our behaviour policies.
“We would like to thank students for their calm, understanding response to Thursday’s events. Their health and safety is of paramount importance to us.”
The school reopened as normal on Friday.
