He might only be eight, but Nathan Reardon reckons he can do a better job than David Moyes as the new Manchester United manager.

The Ansdell schoolboy has written a letter to chiefs at Old Trafford applying for the chance to replace Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Blackpool FC-mad youngster, from Commonside, put together his words after lessons at Ansdell Primary School and sent his letter off in hope to the Premier League champions.

Dad Andy, 43, said: “We posted the letter the day after Sir Alex announced his retirement.

“Since then, David Moyes has been named new manager.

“I’m sure Nathan would settle for the assistant manager’s job!”
