A new chairman has taken on a top position at an outstanding Fylde coast college.
Alan Cavill, Blackpool Council’s assistant chief executive, takes over the post on the corporation board at Blackpool and The Fylde College.
The board is made up of members of the business community, working on the strategic direction of the college.
Mr Cavill has been a governor at the college for seven years and is an active supporter.
He will take on the role, from Stephen Lamley who retired from the role earlier this month, in addition to his work as assistant chief executive for regeneration, tourism and culture at Blackpool Council.
Bev Robinson, principal and chief executive at the college, said: “I am delighted Alan has been confirmed as chairman of the corporation.
“His vast experience and knowledge means that Alan is expertly equipped to lead the Corporation Board.”
And Mr Cavill added: “It is an honour to be appointed.
“The college is in a strong position having recently been judged Outstanding by Ofsted, and I’m pleased to continue working with senior managers, staff and student governors to build on this success.”
