This beaming four-year-old is a unique part of his first-ever school.
For Jack Miller is the newest – and only – member of the reception class at St Mary’s Primary School in Great Eccleston.
But he is taking it all in his stride.
Far from being on his own in lessons, Jack takes part in classes with children a year or two older than him, but will go through his primary school years as the only child in his age group.
Mum Emma McLaughlin, 25, says the circumstances do not bother her son.
She said: “He has been brilliant and runs into school every day and loves it. He’s got plenty of friends and loves reading his book and doing his homework. He is already reading to his younger brothers.”
Jack lives in the village with his mum, seven-month-old twin brothers, Jacob and Joseph and dad Graeme Miller, 30.
Headteacher David Ramsey added: “He is a cute little character. The other children always look after him and he looks after them.”
