A former Blackpool schoolgirl who has gone on to inspire a new generation of learners has scooped a top education award.
Laura Stone, 33, has won the Inspirational Teacher of the Year gong in The Times Educational Supplement awards.
The former Arnold School and Sixth Form pupil, who now teaches at Burlington Danes Academy, in Hammersmith, London, where she is head of humanities, said her schooling spurred her on to be a teacher.
She said: “I loved school, it really gave me the platform to go on to university and go on from there in my career.
“I felt incredible to win, I’m very proud.
“To win an award that represents such an important profession is quite amazing.”
