Students from Blackpool Sixth Form College got a taste of the real world thanks to a series of careers talks from Fylde coast employers.

Teenagers packed into the college’s brand new theatre to hear from guest speakers who offered their advice for stepping on to the career ladder.

The talks involved local employers including Santander, Blackpool Council, HMRC, and the Federation of Small Businesses.

Robin Ross, local artist and screen printer, and juggler Thomas Bounce, who found fame on Britain’s Got Talent, were also at the event.

Thomas said: “I came to Blackpool Sixth Form College to inspire students who are considering pursuing a career working for themselves.

Showing them the importance of selling yourself is a really important aspect in attracting customers, and making yourself stand out in the market.”
