A Blackpool school has won planning permission to build an extension to its premises.
Blackpool Council, whose planning committee is chaired by Coun David Owen, has approved an application for a single storey addition to Claremont Junior School on Westminster Road.
The new building will provide an extra classroom at the school.
As part of the development, an existing workshop will be demolished to create space for the proposed building to the Claremont Road side of the school.
Preston-based architects Cassidy and Ashton, who lodged the submission, say in their design statement: “It is clear that the proposed works are an appropriate form of development within this location.
“The works would result a small classroom extension which would assist in providing much needed additional teaching space.”
In allowing the scheme to go ahead, planners say: “The extension proposed would have little visual impact in the streetscene and no impact on nearby residential property.”
