A LEISURE industry worker attacked a stag night reveller from behind in the street.

Stephen Fonte was identified from CCTV stills after he punched the man and kicked him twice while he was on the ground.

Fonte, 20, of General Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to assault.

He was sentenced to do 200 hours of unpaid work for the community and ordered to pay compensation of £150 to his victim plus £85 costs by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the victim was making his way back to his hotel when he heard someone running up behind him on June 2 about 2am.

He was hit on the head and knocked to the ground where he was punched and kicked.

Another man who took part in the attack received a caution over the incident.

John McLaren, defending, said Fonte was in the Walkbout Bar when a man had nudged him and tapped him in the ribs.

He believed the man had banged into him deliberately.

Fonte later saw the man on the street and due to the amount of alcohol he had consumed, decided to attack him.
