CHILDHOOD sweethearts are getting ready for the wedding of their dreams after winning £100,000 on a scratchcard.
Dane Belk-Gregory, 24, from Fleetwood, is now planning a wedding with his girlfriend of eight years Ciara Doyle, also 24, after hitting the jackpot on the £2 card.
The couple were borrowing money on a weekly basis to pay household bills, but are now planning on buying a house, car and having a luxury honeymoon.
Mr Belk-Gregory, an Animal Studies student at Myerscough College, said: “It’s an absolute dream.
“I didn’t think I would be able to buy a house or a car for a long time. I’ve won a few times on scratchcards, but this is beyond my wildest dreams.”
Mr Belk-Gregory went into Thorougoods on Broadway, Fleetwood, with £3 in his pocket.
He spent £1 on two cans of pop and purchased the card with the rest.
The dad-of-one is also planning on treating his family, including a trip to Disneyland with his two-year-old daughter Brooke.
He added: “It still hasn’t sunk in and I think I’m going to wake up.
“I’ve been in and out of work and you don’t think you’ll ever get a break.”
The couple hope to get married in Fleetwood in the spring, but in the meantime they are relieved their debt problems are over.
Miss Doyle, a care assistant, is looking forward to getting her hands on a BMW.
She added: “I’ve been planning my wedding before I had money, but now I’m going to invite a lot more people than I intended to.
“My dad was going to save up for the wedding and we thought it was never going to happen,
“All of my family cried as soon as they found out and it’s such a relief for them because they don’t have to worry.”
