A LIFE-long dream came true for Blackpool Zoo’s oldest ever visitor as she met one of its tallest residents.
Marjorie Emilie had always wanted to hand-feed a giraffe – so zoo staff brought her dream to life just weeks before her 102nd birthday.
The 101-year-old, a former sergeant in the Indian Army, made the trip to the zoo with her nieces and nephews and said: “I had a wonderful time at Blackpool Zoo, which was made even more special by being able to feed the beautiful giraffes.
“Next on my list of things to do is swim with dolphins, although the pacemaker I had fitted last year may prevent that!”
The trip was arranged by Mrs Emilie’s great-nephew, who works for the zoo, and the zoo’s Jude Rothwell added: “We were more than happy to arrange for Marjorie to hand feed the giraffes and she really enjoyed the experience. She is officially our oldest ever visitor to the zoo.”
