EMPLOYEES from BAE Systems have shown their generosity by raising £85,000 for good causes.

Cheques were presented by staff at the Warton and Salmesbury sites to five charities, including Donna’s Dream house in Blackpool and the Preston-based Katy Holmes Trust.

The money was raised through various activities organised by workers including golf days, sponsored bike rides, cake sales and craft fairs.

Ian Wood, Samlesbury site director, said: “It has been a real pleasure to be able to provide support to these worthwhile charities.

“We have been only too happy to help and have been delighted by the level of support our employees have given.”

Len Curtis, from Donna’s Dream House was handed £29,000.

He said: “I knew BAE Systems had already raised more than £8,500 for us, so I never imagined we’d get this amount of money.

“How can you say thank you enough for this phenomenal cheque?”
