OYEZ OYEZ! Blackpool town crier Barry McQueen will lead a host of Jubilee celebrations around the Fylde coast.
Mr McQueen will welcome hundreds of guests to a town centre street party on St Luke’s Road.
Organiser Tony Lee said: “We have had a very enthusiastic response from residents, around 250 to 300 people are expected from this road and St Martin’s Road.
“This has been a very pleasing response as people tend not to know each other on these roads and we have had many volunteers involved in the planning.
“The Town Crier will host the first part of the event and there will be plenty going on until 9pm when the road opens again.
“We have a full programme of singing, music, dancing and games for the children.
“This is the first time anyone can remember a street party on St Luke’s and already people are getting to know each other and building a sense of community spirit.”
The event will start at 1pm on Sunday June 3.
And diamond jubilee fever is brewing up in Fleetwood with mugs being handed out to every child in the towny.
The idea for a memento of the big occasion came from Fleetwood Town Council which has paid for 2,300 of them.
Councillors have begun distributing the mugs - bearing a Blue Peter prize-winning design - to primary schools, and Larkholme School was one of the first to get its batch.
Coun Bob Winston said: “Producing royal mugs on these occasions is a great tradition and we wanted something that youngsters could remember the day by.
“It’s very satisfying to be able to come out and deliver these to the schools.”
The town as a whole will celebrate on June 4 with a specially organised free party in the Marine Gardens.
Blackpool Tower ballroom will hold an indoor family street party on Monday June 5 from noon;; St Annes Cricket Club hosts a family fun day on Sunday June 3 from noon and e there will be a jubilee party at Poulton Library on Thursday May 31 at 2.15pm. Tickets are required contact (01253) 888900
