A man went on a shoplifting spree because he was desperate and hungry a judge was told.
Robert Snow, 23, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to four offences of theft before a court.
He was sentenced to 12 months supervision with six months drug rehabilitation, fined £20 and ordered to pay £179 compensation by District Judge Jeff Brailsford sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
Martine Connah, prosecuting, said Snow went twice to Sainsbury’s new flagship store,Talbot Road, on October 8 and took two radios worth more than £100. The next day he stole £14 headphones from a HMV and on September 21 he took a £59 boom-box from TK Maxx.
Kathryn Jamieson-Sinclair, defending, said Snow had come out of a long-term relationship and found himself homeless.
He had started using legal highs, but had now stopped doing that. At the time of the offences Snow was desperate and intended selling the items to pay for food.
