Parents living in Blackpool are being reminded to apply for a primary school place for their child before January 15.
Any children born between September 1 and August 31 2012 should start primary school next September.
Parents need to apply for a school place for their child before January 15 in order to stand the best possible chance of getting accepted at their preferred schools.
Demand can be high for certain schools.
Blackpool Council’s cabinet secretary Coun Graham Cain said: “We always try our best to get children in to their first choice school and if you apply before the deadline then you stand a better chance of getting one of your preferred schools.
“However, if you submit after the deadline then your chances of getting in to your preferred place are greatly reduced.
“Therefore it is really important to take a note of the deadline and make sure your applications are completed in good time.”
Anyone who pays their council tax to Blackpool must apply to Blackpool Council, even if they have chosen one or more schools outside Blackpool.
In order to apply, people can log onto the council’s website at www.blackpool.gov.uk/schooladmissions or call (01253) 476637.
A brochure with details of each individual school is also available from the council’s website.
