A ladies get-together with a difference is set to take place next month on the Fylde coast.
The Shotgun and Chelsea Bun Club is holding one of its famous “introduction to clay shooting and cake” days.
It will be meeting for the first time ever on the Fylde coast, at Blackpool Sporting Clays, Greenhalgh, on October 27, from 10am until 2pm.
The idea behind the club is to bring women together, who wouldn’t normally have a go at shooting, and make it fun, accessible and more importantly, affordable.
No experience is needed and all equipment is included in the price.
As the days are designed to be really sociable, women can go along on their own.
The event aims to be friendly and offer local ladies the chance to meet like-minded women, try clay shooting and have a few hours ‘me’ time.
After trying shooting, the day ends with a vintage tea party.
Victoria Knowles-Lacks, the founder of The Shotgun and Chelsea Bun Club, said: “We are so excited about holding an event on the Fylde coast and we’ve had a great response so far.
“It promises to be a fantastic event.
“Absolutely everyone is welcome to come along and try out this Olympic sport and we guarantee you’ll hit some clays.”
The day will start with introductions, after which the girls are split into small groups and paired with an instructor.
The women are taught how to shoot a variety of clay targets, safely and under instruction. Once the shooting is over, the girls re-group for a well-earned cup of tea and slice of cake – served on beautiful china. Scorecards are counted up and prizes are presented to the highest scorers – and the all-important rosette goes to the best cake.
The day costs £47.50, including 30 cartridges, 30 clays, gun hire, insurance, protective equipment and cake.
