A Blackpool small business has picked up the first of a new award designed to highlight good practice in the resort.
Clean Living has been named Blackpool Council’s first ever Safe and Secure Trader of the Month, a spin-off from the scheme which offers people living in the area with a list of trusted traders to avoid ordinary people falling into the hands of cowboys or conmen.
Daniel Henshaw, a sole trader who runs the Fleetwood-based operation, specialises in carpet and upholstery cleaning.
Clean Living, which has its headquarters on Broadway, has been on Blackpool Council’s Safe and Secure Directory since June 2014 and was selected as first winner of the award which is designed to honour local businesses who provide a great service to their customers.
One customer said of Clean Living: “Daniel is very diligent, courteous and exceptionally clean and tidy in his work.”
Another said: “I have used Clean Living for the past 10 years and can highly recommend Daniel. His work is always to a very high standard.”
A delighted Daniel said: “I am really pleased my work is appreciated by my customers and very grateful for all the kind comments, as a sole trader customer satisfaction and recommendation is really important to me.”
Coun Gillian Campbell, Blackpool Council’s cabinet member for public safety and enforcement, said: “I’d like to offer my congratulations to Clean Living on winning the first award.
“The Safe and Secure Directory of trusted traders has been developed in partnership with Care and Repair, Age UK Blackpool and the Police to provide consumers with confidence when employing tradesmen for jobs in the home.
“I would urge consumers to play it safe and always use trusted traders from the directory.”
She added that companies and individuals listed in the directory had been thoroughly vetted, must adhere to a code of practice and not only act in a fair and honest way but offer high standards of workmanship to customers.
