A CYCLIST needed hospital treatment when he was knocked off his bike by a car which then failed to stop.

Police are now appealing for witnesses of the crash to come forward after the incident at 9am on Saturday on Chapel Road, Poulton.

The 4x4 involved did not stop at the scene and the 29-year-old cyclist from Thornton was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment on a bruised arm.

PC Jason Colclough, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward and contact the police.

“Fortunately the cyclist did not sustain serious injuries although it was first thought that he had broken his arm.

“If anyone saw the 4x4 type vehicle in the area then they should come forward and contact us. I would also appeal direct to the driver and ask him to make contact with the police.”

Anyone with information should call Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
