POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was attacked outside a Blackpool bar.

The assault took place at 1.20am on Saturday when the 19-year-old victim, from Oxford, was involved in an altercation with a man outside the Lifeboat Inn on Foxhall Road.

The victim was punched in the face before falling to the ground where he was kicked in the head.

The offender then fled the scene.

The victim suffered cuts, grazes and bruising to face and lost several teeth.

Det Con Matthew Haylett, of Blackpool CID, said the incident would have been spotted by someone.

He added: “This incident happened outside a busy pub on a main road so I would appeal to anybody that witnessed it to come forward.

“In particular there were a number of occupants in a blue Volkswagen golf and a lone woman outside the pub at the time of the incident.

“Those people could be key witnesses so I would urge these people to contact the police as soon as possible.

Anyone with any information should call Lancashire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org.

A 44-year-old man, from Blackpool, has been arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm and is currently on police bail until September 28.
