A man strapped two watches to his wrist and walked out of a Blackpool store without paying for them,

Ross Chevreau stole the timepieces because he was in desperate financial circumstances a court was told.

You have a terrible record. You are walking on a knife-edge

Chevreau, 20, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to theft. He was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £20 victims’ surcharge by District Judge Jeff Brailsford sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

The judge told him: “You have a terrible record. You are walking on a knife-edge.”
