Forensic detectives are investigating after a young woman was sexually assaulted following a night out.
The 20-year-old reveller was attacked in Jean Stansfield Memorial Park, in Poulton, after being approached by two men.
One of them assaulted her and she also reported items going missing including a Motorola mobile phone, a pair of pink/red glasses and an earring.
The victim had been seen in both Cube and Uber bars in the town before the attack, and police are now studying CCTV from the venues.
After the attack, which happened some time between 1.30am and 3.30am, the victim walked back into the town centre and got a taxi home.
Det Insp Gareth Willis, who is investigating the incident, said: “We’re trying to find the victim on CCTV so we can mirror their steps.
“She is understandably very upset when we talked to her this morning.
“She’s being supported by her family and specially-trained officers.”
Officers have also spoken to residents in the streets surrounding the park about the attack, and officers also patrolled its perimeters on Saturday night.
