POLICE have charged two people in relation to alleged sexual activity with a 10-week-old baby.
It comes after staff at Blackpool Victoria Hospital reported an injured infant was brought in.
It is understood the charges relate to allegations at a Fylde coast address and reports of further sexual activity at hospital.
A Blackpool Police spokesman said: “Two people were arrested after a 10-week-old baby girl was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital with injuries.
“The baby was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and police were informed about the injuries and launched an immediate investigation.
“A 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, both from Fleetwood, were then arrested.”
Liam Marrow, 25, of Abbotts Walk, Fleetwood, has been charged with four counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual activity in the presence of a child. Catherine Blackburn, 21, also of Abbotts Walk, has been charged with causing/allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm.
Both were due to appear at Blackpool Magistrates Court this morning.
Hospital bosses confirmed they were assisting officers with their investigation.
