POLICE have arrested two men following drugs raids in Fylde.
Officers wearing riot gear swooped on properties on Birley Street and Preston Street, in Kirkham, and Wesham Park Drive, in Wesham and found cannabis and a bag of suspected cocaine.
A cannabis bush was seized from the Preston Street address and a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis. He was later released with a caution.
Cocaine and cannabis were seized from the Wesham raid. A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and cocaine. He has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Sgt Niamh O’Donoghue (right), from Kirkham and rural Fylde neighbourhood police team, said: “We will continue to tackle drugs in Fylde – and those who deal in drugs should expect warrants to be carried out at their addresses.”
Riot officers were supported on the raid by the neighbourhood police team officers and a drugs dog on Friday.
Neighbourhood police teams have since been carrying out reassurance work in the local area.
They have also been speaking to residents about the powers that can be used to remove problem tenants from a community.
Sgt O’Donoghue added: “We are able to use powers under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003, which enables police to close down premises or houses when there is evidence of drug dealing and related anti-social behaviour.
“If you have concerns that there is a drug dealer on your street you can either contact Crimestoppers anonymously or speak to your local police team.
“Your community beat manager can be your voice in court when applying for a closure order to shut down the problematic address.”
