A man whose death sparked a murder inquiry has been named by police as Paul Walker.

Mr Walker, 52, of Normoss Avenue, died in hospital on New Year’s Day after being found unconscious in the street.

Two teenagers were today being questioned by murder squad detectives in connection with the incident.

Mr Walker was taken by ambulance to Blackpool Victoria Hospital after being found in Sutton Place, central Blackpool, at around 2am yesterday.

He later died in hospital.

It is believed weapons were not involved.

Two teenage boys – aged 14 and 17 – both from Blackpool, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently being questioned by detectives.

A Lancashire Police statement said the man, “appeared to have suffered facial and head injuries”.

A post mortem examination will now be carried out to try to establish a cause of death.

Police are also appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
