Two arrested after violent resort stabbing

Police are appealing for information after a man was stabbed on a Blackpool street.

The incident happened at around 6.55pm on Tuesday.

A 26-year-old man was getting out of his car in Horsebridge Road, Grange Park, when was approached by four or five men who launched a violent attack.

The victim was hit repeatedly, punched with a knuckleduster and stabbed with a knife, leaving him with heavy bruising, a significant stab wound to his right arm and a slash injury to the side of his head.

DS Ellie Gomerson from the Blackpool Public Protection Unit said: “We believe this was a targeted attack by a group of men who knew the location of the victim and intended to cause him serious harm.”

The group fled the scene in a black Volvo S40 Sport but this was later spotted by police in the Swinton area of Manchester and after a short pursuit, the vehicle was abandoned and the occupants were chased by officers.

Two men both aged 23 from Doncaster were arrested on suspicion of GBH and are currently in police custody.

DS Gomerson continued: “We need anyone who may have witnessed the assault, seen the men or the vehicle in the Horsebridge Road area at the time to get in touch.

“Similarly, if you know anything that could assist us with our investigation, please speak to us.”

The victim was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital where he was treated and later discharged.
