A TIP-OFF to police led to a shift worker who was more than twice over the alcohol limit being arrested.
Dean Ratcliffe, 48, of Rossett Avenue, Mereside, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol when he appeared before Blackpool Magistrates Court.
Sandra Ardern, prosecuting, said that on January 7, at about 10pm, police received information a man who had been drinking was driving a Ford Focus.
Police saw the vehicle being driven onto a car park near the Clifton Arms Hotel, Blackpool.
Ratcliffe got out and walked towards Preston New Road.
A breath test showed 77 micrograms of alcohol in his body – 35 is the limit.
Ratcliffe said: “I did not intend to drive. I went to see someone, stayed longer than I expected, then stupidly drove home.”
He was disqualified from driving for 20 months, fined £280 with £85 costs and ordered to pay a £15 victims surcharge by District Judge Jeff Brailsford.
