A man stole a bottle of spirits after his benefits money was suspended.
Mitchell Elliott, 22, of Alexandra Road, South Shore, pleaded guilty to theft of a bottle of Jack Daniels.
He was given an 18 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £22.50 compensation plus £15 victims’ surcharge by District Judge Rod Ross sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
Chrissie Hunt, prosecuting, said Elliott was seen on CCTV at the Blackpool branch of Marks and Spencer putting the bottle of spirits in a bag he had and walking out without paying for it on September 4.
Brett Chappell, defending, said at the time Elliott’s benefits money had been stopped because he missed an appointment and he had nothing to live on.
