A serial thief was described by a judge as “having a terrible record” and jailed.
Brian Smith, 44, of Elizabeth Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to six offences of shoplifting.
He was on a suspended prison sentence for three offences of stealing from stores. Smith was sentenced to 23 days jail and ordered to pay a £150 court charge with £80 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said Smith stole more than £300 of groceries from the resort’s Co-op, Sainsburys and Costcutters stores between September 6 and October 5.
Kathryn Jamieson-Sinclair, defending, said her client had a drugs problem for which he needed help.
