Police were called to the factory at 7.10pm on Wednesday after the teenage boys scaled a fence before stealing the goodies from a trailer.

Empty boxes were later found thrown on the ground in the nearby Layton Cemetery, angering residents.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said no other reports of similar thefts had been reported in the past month.

Burton’s has been contacted for a comment.
