Two teenage boys have appeared in court accused of robbing a neighbour who was allegedly battered around the head with a baseball bat.
The boys, both aged 16 and from Blackpool’s Mereside estate, who can not be identified for legal reasons, are charged with robbing a 51-year-old man of a 42-inch Samsung television valued at £200.
The offence is alleged to have taken place about 3.30am at the man’s home in Grizedale Road, Mereside, on Saturday.
Alison Quanbrough, prosecuting, asked for both boys to be remanded in custody.
Defence lawyers, Hugh Pond and Ashley Fisher, asked for bail for their clients.
Blackpool magistrates remanded one of the boys in custody and the other was bailed on the condition he kept a 7pm to 7am curfew.
The boys must appear before the resort’s youth court on Thursday.
According to Lancashire Police, the victim suffered a number of injuries in the alleged attack.
He suffered minor bruising as well as grazes and a black eye.
