Teen charged over late night assault

A teenager has been charged in connection with an attack in which a man was stabbed.

A 16-year-old boy from Blackpool has been charged with robbery, wounding and possession of an offensive weapon following the incident in Lytham Road on Saturday night

He is due to appear before Blackpool Magistrates Court on December 29.

An 18-year-old man who was also arrested remains on police bail.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information about the incident. They are particularly keen to trace two further men and a woman who were present at the time of the attack.

The attack happened as a man was walking home from a night out with friends.

He had been drinking at a pub on Lytham Road and was approached by men who asked for cigarettes.

When he refused their request the man was assaulted and suffered a stab wound to the stomach.

Two other men are believed to have joined in with the attack, during which cigarettes were taken.

Officers investigating the incident are focusing on a party which was being held at a property on Lytham Road, close to where the attack happened.

Earlier this week they carried out a search of drains close to the crime scene in the hope of finding a weapon.

Lancashire Police said nothing had been recovered.
