DETECTIVES want to trace this man after a shocking daylight raid at a Blackpool bookmakers.

Despite the brave shop manager trying to stop the raid, the brazen robber managed to jump over the counter and grab money from the tills at Ladbrokes on Dickson Road.

The thief shouted “I need the money more than you” before taking handfuls of cash and fleeing.

Police have now released a CCTV image (right) of a man they want to speak to in connection with the raid.

Det Con Phil Palmer, from Blackpool CID, said: “There were around four people in the bookmakers at the time. The man started shouting that he needed the money and opened the till.

“The member of staff tried to fend him off and get him away from the tills but she realised he was going to be too strong for her.

“She was shaken up at the time.

“I am confident somebody will know this person and I urge anybody with information to come forward.

“I would ask that if anyone has any information about the incident or recognises the man in the CCTV images that they contact police.”

It is thought the robber – who struck around 1.30pm on Monday, January 30 – ran off down Bank Street after taking the money.

The robber is described as a white, 5ft 7in tall, of slim build, in his early to mid 20s and has brown or ginger coloured hair.

He spoke with a Liverpool accent.

Anyone with any information should contact Lancashire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
