A drug addict targeted a supermarket to steal luxury items before selling them to buy heroin.
Robert Benson took alcohol, including champagne, from Morrisons on three consecutive days to feed his drug habit.
Benson, 40, of Shaw Road, South Shore, pleaded guilty to three offences of theft.
He was sentenced to nine months’ supervision, six months’ drug rehabilitation and ordered to pay £133 compensation by Blackpool magistrates.
Pam Smith, prosecuting, said Benson and a woman who was co-accused over the offences stole alcohol and fine coffee totalling £356 from Morrisons between September 19 and 21.
Trevor Colebourne, defending, said: “He did not steal to live the high life, he stole because he is addicted to the low life - namely heroin.”
