A cab driver got a shock when a reveller dressed as Superman ran into the side of his moving car while allegedly staging a mock superhero stunt.

It is understood that the wannabe superhero had been in the Foxhall pub on Central Promenade in Blackpool when he was involved in a “disagreement” in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The driver, who did not wish to be named, and who spoke to one of the bouncers following the incident, said: “The guy was very drunk and had apparently been making a nuisance of himself inside the Foxhall and had attempted to hit one of the bouncers with a bar stool.

“He was asked to leave and when he crossed the road he jumped onto my bonnet in a kind of superman flying sort of way, trying to show off to his friends.

“He ended up being thrown off the cab and was run over by one of my back wheels.

“He brought it on himself by behaving like that and I ended up being parked up for an hour and a half while I was interviewed by the police and they checked my vehicle.

“I was shaken but I wasn’t hurt and he was taken to
hospital.”

A Lancashire Police spokeswoman said: “We were called by the ambulance service just before 12.30am on Sunday, November 2, to a report of a collision involving a man and a taxi.

“The man was in his thirties and had leg injuries.

“It seems he has had a disagreement in the bar and has left the bar and collided with this passing taxi.”

A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called to an incident outside the nightclub at 12.20am.

“The ambulance arrived at 12.25am and a patient was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.”
