Spirits theft at store

Blackpool Magistrates Court

Blackpool Magistrates Court

A MAN stole bottles of spirits by concealing them in his clothing five days after being released from prison.

Karl Broadhead, 31, of Kentmere Drive, Mereside, admitted theft of £44 worth of alcohol from Lidl and breaching conditional discharges for possessing class C drugs and resisting police.

He was given a 28 day curfew from 9pm to 7am by Blackpool magistrates.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said Broadhead went into the store on Devonshire Road with another man at 5.40pm on June 9.

Both put bottles of spirits in their clothing and when apprehended Broadhead was found with five bottles. Broadhead had been released from a prison in Liverpool only five days previously.

David Charnley, defending, said shoplifting was out of character for Broadhead. He had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and been in custody since Saturday.
