A SINGLE mother worked as a nursing home care assistant and illegally claimed benefits.
Amanda Hendley, 22, of Norcliffe Road, Norbreck, pleaded guilty to three offences of failing to notify a change in circumstances.
She was fined £200 with £85 costs and £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
Martine Connah, prosecuting, said benefit fraud investigators received information Hendley was working as a care assistant for the Alexandra Nursing Home Limited.
She illegally claimed £2,392 in income support, housing and council tax benefits between September 2011 and March last year.
Steven Townley, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, had thought because she told the DWP she was working her benefits would stop, but they did not.
