A Blackpool shopkeeper was fined £1,990 after selling clothing with false trademarks.

Shaun Hartley, 48, of Bela Grove, Blackpool, runs the Glamourise shop on Abingdon Street.

Carmel White, prosecuting Blackpool Council, said Trading Standards officers were alerted to some stock Hartley had on sale.

When officers examined the stock, they found Hugo Boss scarves and hats and Playboy zip tops were counterfeit.

Hartley admitted three false trademark offences at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

District Judge Alexandra Simmons issued a confiscation order for the goods.

Peter Manning, defending, said that when his client took over the shop he found the items boxed up.

He was under the impression the items had been left behind by a previous tenant – a charity.

Hartley was fined £900 and ordered to pay £1,090 costs.
