Second man faces murder charge

A MAN has appeared in court charged with murder.

Frank McCartney, 43, of Banks Street, Blackpool, is the second man to be charged in connection with the murder of 46-year-old James Whitelaw.

He will appeared before Blackpool Magistrates’ Court for a brief hearing this morning.

McCartney spoke only to confirm his name, age and address and was remanded in custody to appear before Preston Crown Court tomorrow.

Mr Whitelaw, originally from Glasgow, was discovered unconscious in an alleyway behind Regent Road around 10pm on Friday, November 23.

He was taken by ambulance to Blackpool Victoria Hospital with serious head injuries but sadly died in the early hours of Wednesday, November 28.

Jack Tindall, 21, of Bedford Road, Blackpool, is also charged with the murder of Mr Whitelaw.
