A drunken moped rider went through a red light forcing a police patrol car to brake to avoid a crash.
Mark Cleland was seen to be swerving all over the road as police pursued him.
Cleland, 22, of Braithwaite Street, North Shore, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol without a licence or insurance and failing to comply with a traffic signal.
He was banned from the road for 17 months and fined £200 with £85 costs plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
Martine Connah, prosecuting, said the incident happened on November 9 at 12.40am. Cleland ran a red light on a Honda moped.
Daniel Harman, defending, said it was a friend’s moped and Cleland should not have been riding it.
He did not stop immediately, but when he did he co-operated fully with the police.
