Lancashire Chief Constable Steve Finnigan has praised the bravery of two Blackpool bobbies.

Sgt Rick Frith and Det Con Kim Carbutt risked their lives to help two suicidal men.

The officers were presented with the William Garnett Cup – the highest accolade the force bestows for bravery.
As previosuly reported in The Gazette, Sgt Frith and DC Carbutt responded to two men in their 20s with cord nooses around their necks while on scaffolding on Blackpool Promenade.
Despite the real threat to their own safety the officers managed to get the men down safely.
