A MAN stole packets of dog food from a supermarket – even though he does not have a dog.

Blackpool magistrates heard Michael Rhodes does not know anyone who has a dog.

Rhodes, 42, of Warbreck Drive, Blackpool, admitted the theft of five sachets of dog food from the Wilkinsons store valued at £3.25.

The court heard how Rhodes picked up the packets but dropped some as he left the store. When interviewed he told police he had been drinking and could not remember what he had done.

Sue Mugford, defending: “He does have black outs and the theft of dog food is baffling as he does not have a dog.” The case was adjourned.
