Detectives investigating a sexual assault on a woman on Blackpool Promenade have today released new CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.
The victim, a local woman in her 20s, was approached by a man on Abingdon Street in Blackpool.
Police said the pair then walked down Talbot Square, past the Royal Bank of Scotland, the Counting House and the Galleon pub on to the Promenade. As they stopped near to the war memorial the man sexually assaulted her.
The attacker then snatched the victim’s handbag before running off in the direction of the Metropole Hotel.
A Good Samaritan then helped the woman to safety following the incident, which happened at around 3.30am on June 23.
Officers have now released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.
He is described as being around 5ft 8in tall and thought to be in his late 20s with blonde hair and a medium to large build.
He was wearing a blue T-shirt, black jeans with a belt and black trainers. He may also have been wearing a wedding ring could have been called Jack or John.
Det Con David Higham, from Blackpool CID said,: “Our investigation into what happened continues and we would further renew our appeal for information.
“We have been able to trace the Good Samaritan who has assisted us greatly and now we want to trace the man seen in the CCTV images.
“If you are that man or you know who he is then we would ask you to call Blackpool CID on 101. We would also ask anyone else who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed the incident or have information about it to call the police.”
