Detectives in Bispham are
appealing for information after a car was destroyed in an arson attack.

Police were called to Bristol Road shortly after 3.20am on Friday after residents spotted the red VW Bora ablaze.

Det Sgt Mark Dickinson, who is leading the investigation, said the arsonist had smashed the driver’s side
window before setting the seats alight.

Det Sgt Dickinson, of Blackpool CID, said: “Deliberate car fires are rare in this area.

“I believe someone in the area will know who is responsible for this and I urge that person to come forward and contact police.”

The 12-year-old vehicle was parked outside its owners home when it was targeted.

Officers said they had no doubt the damage was caused deliberately. The blaze was put out by firefighters from Bispham fire station but the car was completely burnt out.

Anyone with information about who is responsible or who saw anyone acting suspiciously around 3am on Friday are urged to call police on 101 quoting log reference number LC-2014-05-30-0134.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
