Police have launched an investigation after property was stolen from the dressing room of Strictly Come Dancing stars as the show was being filmed live in Blackpool.
Lancashire Police today appealed for any witnesses to the thefts from the dressing room at the Tower Ballroom, which happened on Saturday night as the glittering BBC show was being filmed.
Police believe a phone, an iPad and jewellery have been stolen from a single large dressing room which was being shared by female celebrities and dancers on the show.
A spokesman for the force said: “We are investigating a theft that has occurred at the Tower Ballroom at Blackpool.
“It was reported to us at around 9:45pm (on Saturday) that some items had been taken from a dressing room within the building - officers are investigating the theft and are making a number of enquiries to trace the person or people responsible and we would appeal to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area to contact police
A spokesman for police said they would not identify victims of the thefts, but reports have suggested stars including Sophie Ellis Bextor, Natalie Gumede and Abbey Clancey have had property stolen.
Officers say it is not yet clear how the thieves have got into the dressing room.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
Saturday’s show from the Tower Ballroom was broadcast to a national TV audience of millions.
Tourism bosses predicted before the show aired it could boost the town’s economy by more than £250,000 and was a “money can’t buy” advertisement for the resort.
