Detectives have released an image of a man they want to speak to after a teenage girl was allegedly raped in Blackpool.

The 14-year-old is thought to have met a man in the New and Booze off licence, on Talbot Road, before they walked down to the beach near North Pier, where police believe she was attacked.

Officers appealed for information last summer, which was reported in The Gazette at the time, but have now released a CCTV image of a man they are working to track down.

The incident is believed to have taken place between 10pm and 11pm on August 24.

Det Con Beverly Thomas, of Blackpool Police, said: “We are keen to trace the man pictured in the CCTV image and if anyone recognises him or has any information that could assist with our investigation I would urge them to contact us.”

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting crime reference AX1410837.
